Care Instruction:

Soil: The soil should be light, porous, well-drained with sufficient lime.

Pot Size: Regular pot with a diameter of 8 inches (20 cm). Oversized pots should never be used & the size of pots should be just enough to hold the shallow fern roots.

Potting/Transplanting: The container selected must have proper drainage holes. To prevent waterlogging, cover the drainage holes with broken pieces of earthen pots or brick pieces before putting the soil. Transplant the Fern sapling in a pot along with root-ball of original soil. Carefully place the plant in the middle of the pot & cover the roots completely with remaining soil.

Repotting: Repot Golden Fern once a year, or only if the fern has densely covered the whole pot. In the case of repotting, only the next size pot (2-3 cm more in diameter) should be used.

Sunlight: Golden Fern dislikes bright sunshine. It is best grown in the indoor shade, or if grown outdoors, placed it the shade or indirect sunlight.

Water: Golden Fern prefers frequent light watering in the form of a shower. Overwatering along with poor drainage may result in the fern to wither away.

Fertilizer: Add rich compost in the soil during potting. The addition of leaf mold can be done twice a year.

Temperature: Ideal room temperature – 20 to 30 degrees Celsius.

Humidity: Golden Fern prefers conditions with high humidity. When grown indoors it needs moist, fresh air around the foliage.

Pruning: Remove dry, dead leaves with the help of scissors.

Propagation: This fern grows rapidly and multiplies quickly. It propagates by the sowing of spores in shallow pots & pans. But the easiest & most common method of Golden Fern propagation is by the division of clump or by the division of creeping rhizome/runners.
